"Number One!" Naty Alvarado exclaimed after he flattened the 21st point in the second game of Sunday’s final against David Chapman. "I’m Number One again!" Naty cheered as he won stop No. 3 on the season’s Simple Green tour with an overpowering, 21-13, 21-18 win.

"I got used to the pace and slowed my shots down," Naty said of his run in the first game that saw him go from a 10-6 deficit to a 19-10 lead. "I have to be patient with him (Chapman)," Alvarado said.

Waiting for the right shot was key in Alvarado’s dominating win. "Against Vince (Munoz, Naty’s semifinal opponent), I’m always on the run. So, I had to slow down today.

That worked wonders for Alvarado, while Chapman didn’t know what hit him. "I guess I’m not used to being in shape," Chapman said of his slimmed-down physique and new-found wind. "I’m usually flailing away and the shots just fall in. That wasn’t happening today."

Chapman had offered after his semifinal win that he was just about where he wanted to be weight-wise but was still working on his conditioning. "I’m working with my personal trainer than I have with anything else I’ve ever done."

Irish national champ Tony Healy continued to impress the tour players and fans. The smooth 24-year-old took came close to upsetting Norm Dunne in the first rond and then won the consolation title.

"I was lucky in the first game," Tony Healy said of his consolation win. "I was down 14-11 and ran it out 15-14."

That comeback wore on Little in the second game as he succumbed to the fatigue and heartbreak.

"I’ve got one more chance in Juarez," Healy said. "The next qualifier (Helena) is during our Irish Nationals, so I won’t be coming," Healy explained.
