Dave Chapman started the new year where he left off in '99. Chapman beat No. 8 Tyler Hamel, 21-7, 21-11. Hamel competed in his first ever final.

Hamel was looking forward to meeting Chapman in the final for the second time in recent months. Hamel and Chapman met in the finals of SMSU's Bear Bash tournament in Springfield, Mo. last November. Hamel managed to beat Chapman for the first time, 21-9, 21-13.

However, this time, is was a different story.

"My game plan was to go in there and do everything hard," said Hamel. "I wanted to hit hard shots, serves, you name it. When my plan did not work, I then played to his game of the lob and wait for the setup."

No. 6 Danny Bell beat No. 10 Norm Dunne, 15-7, 15-10, to win third place. Bell lost to Chapman 10 & 9 to drop to the third place showdown. Dunne lost to Hamel, 11 and 17, which paired him up with Bell for third place.

No. 12 Andy Schad made the most of his journey back to the states. Schad defeated No. 9 Matt Hiber of Minneapolis, 15-9, 15-5, to win the consolation. Schad is currently stationed on Bahrain (a small country located off the coast of Saudi Arabia) with the U.S. Air Force. Schad happened to be in the states receiving training at the Pentagon.

The next Simple Green/USHA pro stop is slated for Feb. 11-13th at the Downtown Dallas YMCA. The pro stop will be held in conjunction with the George Lee Invitational. For more information refer to the USHA Calendar now on-line, or e-mail the USHA at handball@ushandball.org.
