USHA/Simple Green Pro Handball Stop #6
Minneapolis, Minn.- David Chapman may have hit some
bumps in the road on his way to the finals; but once there,
it was smooth sailing for the No. 1 player on the tour. Chapman
easily handled Vince Munoz in the final of the USHA/Simple
Green Pro Stop #6, 11-5, 11-6, and 11-2 to win his fifth
Pro Stop of the season. It was another classic performance
by Chapman, who took advantage of his opponent's tired legs
due to his five-game semifinal match with Paul Brady. Munoz
fought to stay in the match in the first two games, but ultimately
he couldn't keep pace with Chapman, who looks to be ready
to defend his Four-Wall National Singles Title.
In the consolation final, Tommy Little defeated Chris Tico
in a tiebreaker to earn valuable ranking points. The player
rankings after the last stop will help determine the draw
for the USHA National Four-Wall Tournament. Pro Stop #6 was
held in conjunction with the Minnesota Spring Handball Classic.
Usually, a tournament that requires Minnesota residence;
players from other states and Canada were able to participate
in the state tournament this year since it was held in conjunction
with a Pro Stop. Tournament Director Matt Hiber did not allow
his duties to effect his play as he won the Open Singles
title over Joe Hagen. A special thank you goes to Matt Hiber,
Sheldon Silberman, the U of M Rec Center Staff, and the Minnesota
State Handball Association for an excellent weekend of handball
and hospitality. See the results of the Minnesota Spring
Handball Classic below.
