USHA/Simple Green Pro Stop #4

Chapman rolls, takes final in three straight games
By Matt Krueger

Concord, Cal. - On Sunday, the Big C Athletic Club was turned into “the Big D” Athletic Club. That’s “D” for David…Chapman, who added another “W” to his Pro Stop record. David Chapman played as if he was his home club, finishing a close third game to win the Concord Pro Stop #4 in three straight games over Paul Brady, 11-5, 11-3, and 11-10. Brady is the only other player to win a Pro Stop this season with his win in Milwaukee, but Chapman made sure he kept his familiar spot at the top when the tournament was over. Said his opponent Brady, “I had too much energy when we started, and I was putting shots in the floor early.” Brady was able to harness that energy and get back in the match in the third game by playing his game, but despite any great play, Chapman was on throughout the entire match.

In the consolation final, Marcos Chavez defeated Sal Santa Ana, yielding 10 points in the first game and 5 in the second.

A special thanks goes to Ken Hofmann, Lane Evans, Bob Solorio, Dave Ruybalid, and the staff of the Concord Big C Athletic Club for an excellent weekend of handball. Players were treated to a banquet at Scott’s Restaurant of Walnut Creek on Saturday evening.
